PRICE
Smart Solar systems are ENERGY STAR certified and qualify for a 30% federal tax credit and state rebate programs, like the $1500 instant MassCEC rebate, yielding a net cost comparable with common “hybrid” heat pump water heaters.
REDUCED ENERGY USE
Using renewable energy to reduce energy consumption by 50% or more (as compared to common electric resistance water heaters.)
NO FANS OR DRAINS NEEDED
INTERIOR TEMPERATURE IS NOT AFFECTED
How does a Solar Assisted Heat Pump Water Heater Work?
1. Heat Collection – The exterior thermodynamic panel absorbs heat from the ambient air, even in cold conditions, without needing direct sunlight.
2. Refrigerant Cycle – A liquid refrigerant flows through the panel, absorbs heat, and evaporates into gas.
3. Compression & Heating – The gas is compressed, raising its temperature up to 155°F, then transferred through a condenser coil wrapped around the water tank.
4. Water Heating – The heat is transferred to the water inside the tank, while the refrigerant cools, condenses back to liquid, and repeats the cycle.
Smart Solar vs Conventional “Hybrid” Heat Pump Water Heater
Bruce Hiles of New England Solar Hot Water breaks down the real-world advantages of Smart Solar vs. conventional “hybrid” heat pump water heaters. Learn why this innovative solution delivers efficiency, reliability, and long-term savings—straight from the people who design and install them.
