The picture below shows an NESHW system using the Putrist ‘counter flow’ flat plate heat exchanger system. The major features are;

Here is a closer view of a different project with a Bradford White glass lined tank, taken before the insulation has been added. Note the two boiler drains and shutoff valves facing the white Purist unit. These are for isolating and descaling the Purist flat plat heat exchanger. NESHW provides this plumbing in case the water chemistry is very bad, and the heat exchanger needs to be cleaned. Over the life of the vast majority of systems this will never be necessary, but the set-up is provided on all installations. NESHW also provides shut-off valves where ever possible. This is not required by code, but is simply good practice and ensures that the entire system is as serviceable and modular as possible.

The picture below shows an NESHW system paired with an on-demand hot water heater (installed by John Templeton). There is a glass lined tank and by-passes for isolating the storage tank and for converting to ‘all solar’ hot water. Note the fin tube radiator ‘heat dump’ in the corner behind the storage tank.

The above examples are very much ‘typical’ installations. NESHW installs the best laid out and neatest systems. Our plumbers use a level and square while fitting piping and components.
